The Department of English has its beginning with the inception (1970-1971) of the college. The Department of English handles Part II English for all undergraduate courses.

The Department of English being primary to all degree courses of study is given utmost importance by the college. The management has provided additional qualified members to help in the teaching and improvement of English in the campus.

The Department of English conducts a Bridge Intensive course in English at the beginning of the academic year for the freshers. As most of the students are from a rural background and first generation learners they are given a (twenty-five hour) five-day bridge course in English. The study material and the course is designed by the members of the faculty to suit the needs of the students who join this college. The study material is revised every year with components to suit the students.

Remedial classes are conducted for the weak SC and ST students funded by the UGC. Necessary steps are taken to check delinquency among students and promote a culture of regular learning for better results.
